Classic car club purchases geriatric chair for Buring Peninsula Health Care Centre

Members of the Southern Antique Classic Car Club were at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 to officially present a “Geriatric Chair” to the health centre.
Marlylese Simms, Club Secretary -Treasurer stated on behalf of all club members that she was extremely pleased that Southern Classic Antique Car Club Members can continue to pledge local health care support.
Over the past twelve years the club has presented gifts totaling approx. $60,000 to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. The club has pledged to again donate proceeds from this year’s scheduled June 2005 event. Ms. Simms said the continued success of this annual event is a direct result of support received from club members, event sponsors and participants and of course the general public.
Kelli Spearns, Patient Care Coordinator at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, thanked the car club for their continued support. Ms. Spearns acknowledged that the new geriatric chair delivers patient care benefits by addressing safety and comfort issues. Ms. Spearns also acknowledged that staff members very much appreciate equipment donations such as this that assist them in their patient care delivery duties.
Cyril Dodge, Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation Board Chairperson expressed the board’s thanks for this recent donation. Mr. Dodge stated, “The continued positive community response of groups such as the Southern Classic Antique Car Club in assisting our health care system has been absolutely outstanding.” Mr. Dodge thanked and congratulated all involved and expressed the foundation’s desire to continue to partner with the Southern Antique Classic Car Club.
