Penelope Rowe discusses ‘mandatory volunteering’ plan in New Brunswick May 28, 2010 The New Brunswick government is introducing volunteering as a high school graduation requirement. Since 2006, students in Newfoundland and Labrador have been contributing 30 hours of service to the community as part of a mandatory career development course. In this CBC Radio audio clip, students in NB offer their opinions, followed by an interview with Penelope Rowe of the Community Sector Council NL. Rowe speaks about the benefits and challenges of curriculum-based volunteer work.
