Doin' the Happy Dance...I got a Second Chance!!
I'm very happy and content resting under the Christmas tree in my forever home.
Hi there, we adopted kash in the spring. He's the chocolate lab, still doing great and we love him to death. A real baby. We drove from st. john's to get him and worried how he would be with our other 2 labs. Thanks so much.
Just wanted to give you an update on princess peaches, she is doing very well and over the last year with us she has gone from very shy to being very relaxed and social:)
tHere are a couple of pictures of Dot (also known as Carman). She is doing good.
A few pics of Kash. He's fitting in well with our other 2 dogs and having lots of fun. A real sooky baby.
So happy to have the 3 new additions to our family, soots (momma), ash (special kitty) and coal (big head). It has been amazing watching these 3 settle into their new home as well as into our dogs beds. Thanks so much for all you do for animals in need and for making our little family a little more purrrfect.
Just a little note to tell you Blackie is so enjoying his new home. It took him a little while to adjust to his new place, but is all settled in now. He is getting a lot of love here and so are we!
Hi, just sending u a pic of Molly that we adopted in Dec, she's now 5 1/2 months old. Spayed this past Mon, has all her needles & rabies shot. Shes beautiful, kind & listens well, we love her to pieces. She has it extremely rough as u can tell from the pics....lol
I thought I drop a note to let you know that we adopted Bear back in 2008 and 7 years later he is still doing great and will be 13 in July! Bear has settled into our family great and we also have 2 other dogs and had a cat (who has since passed). Bear's anxieties and fears have subsided enormously and his favorite activity is camping and he even likes to ride in the car now!
Thank you so much for the work that do...
tAxel is very happy and enjoying his new "forever" home!
tPrecious, now Hooper, has been amazing, no one can believe how well she has adapted since day one. It is truly like she has been ours forever.
We try to get her for daily runs at the lake, which she loves. The warmer days it included a swim too of course, can't keep her from the water :) And of course that means she wants to relax and nap in front of the fireplace when we return.
It really hasn't been as hard as I expected to train her with being deaf, she is a very smart girl and is very attentive to learning new things. We actually just finished dancing to "Time warp" and "Monster Mash", she tries her hardest to mimic the moves we were doing.
We decided to postpone our trip, couldn't leave her after just getting her settled in. When we go in June I will feel much more content about leaving her for a couple of weeks.
Thanks for everything,
tHello! Just a little note for you guys, we adopted jack from your shelter 8 years ago today! He's still going strong, a little grey but still as loveable as ever. Thnk you for not giving up on him and were so happy we found this little guy! Keep up the great work

tJust wanted to say thank you to all of you at the Exploits Valley SPCA , back in July of 2000 we adopted a puppy you had there at the time we thought he was just a very beautiful little puppy. Very shortly after we bought him home we discovered that he was not just another puppy but rather an special addition to our family. Donna and myself fell in love with this little fellow very quickly and had the pleasure of spending the next 14 years and 29 days with him showing us continuous love and affection. He became the most important thing in our lives, and thought us a whole new way of looking at life.
Hi, my name is Stacey Janes and we adopted Brooke ( formerly Roxie) a few months ago. Just wanted to send you an update on her. She's doing really well, she gets along great with our two cats and our other older dog. She follows me wherever I go, and loves nothing more then to sit with me in my sewing room!! Brooke has big personality and is very playful and fun. She has a lot of love to give and we were lucky to have found each other!
Thank you so much for the work you do and for taking care of sweet girl until she found her true forever home here with us!!
Here is a happy summer pic of my dog Nino, who I had the joy to adopt this past Christmas.
Since he has come to live with us, he has learned to trust, be happy and just soak up all the love on offer!
My other dog, also a rescue dog, even likes him!! I am so happy to see them playing together and getting what all dogs (and cats!) should get.. a happy home, and a good life.
Thank you to the SPCA for my Nino..
tPicture of Toby the kitten we adopted on July 10/14 along with his new brothers Ozzy and Jax.
Hello we just adopted our kitten and hoped you could share his story on your second chance stories on the SPCA web page. This is our little kitten Nacho..... He was adopted from the SPCA on May 30th, and instantly became our family member, he was never afraid and slept with our little boy on his first night at home! Nacho is very friendly and fun...he loves to play and fits in perfectly with our 12 yr old beagle Piper. We are thankful to find our sweet kitten...thanks to the SPCA staff for being very helpful caring.
Thanks from : Wally, Vicki, Evan, Ava Vokey (and Nacho and Piper of course)
tHi, I just wanted to update you on my precious baby girl Layla. I adopted her in March 2013, she was known as Nita back then. She is an extremely sweet and affectionate little girl. She was very shy and scared when I first brought her home, but she adjusted very quickly and now she absolutely loves people and never wants to be left out of anything. She entertains me and makes me laugh every day. My life is so much happier since I've had her.
tWe adopted Kailee from you guys last winter and couldn't be happier ! She's a very smart pup with loads of energy. After a bit of training she now loves to go for off leash runs on the beach and relaxing at the camper. She loves to play with her brother Jake and our other fur kitties. We would be lost without her now! Thank you guys :)
Here's a picture of the dog we adopted from the SPCA in October, 2013. Her name was Molly but we changed it to Phoebe. Her favorite thing to do is play with our 2 year old son. Especially reading books in his tent. When we first got her she was so afraid. It took a few days for her to come around. One morning she came down and jumped on the bed with us and she's been our little shadow ever since! We couldn't have adopted a better dog. She's so good with our son, and our cat Jexer (most of the time). She do have separation anxiety so it's hard to leave her for any amount of time but we're working on it :)
I know it's early, but we wanted to update you on a kitten we adopted on May 30.
We adopted a little grey fur ball with bright blue eyes, and named him Felix.
I brought him home at 3 p.m., and for the first several hours, he hid underneath our couch and would not come out. He was shy at first, and whenever we couldn't see him, we knew where he was — underneath our couch. He wouldn't come when called, and seemed to want to stay away from us. He wouldn't eat or drink anything on the first day, but we knew that was normal.
Today is Thursday, June 5, and Felix has adapted extremely well to his new home. He's eating and drinking regularly, has learned to use his litter box, he's EXTREMELY playful and affectionate, and sleeps with us when we turn in for the night. He's also very photogenic, and I swear he poses for photos whenever my camera is pointed his way. He's very attentive and wants to know what's going on around him.
We have an appointment made for him at a local vet on Saturday so he can get his needles.
We are so very grateful to the EVSPCA for approving the adoption, and we want you to know Felix has a great home here.
We'll be sending lots of pictures as the days, weeks, months and years go by.
All the best!!
Matt Molloy and Amanda Morris
tHi attached is a pic of our sweet little Sophie!, she is loving her new home & we love her!..:)
tThank you to the wonderful staff at the Exploits Valley SPCA for taking care of me for five months when no one else would! Thank you for helping me find my new furever home with Jon Beresford and Jessica Stuckless! When I first came here I was a little nervous of everything, even the TV, but now I love to watch dogs on it when I see them! I have lots of new friends from the dog park and I even get walked daily! I have learned all kinds of tricks since I moved in like sitting, giving paw and lying down… I just love getting treats when I do these tricks. I love it here at my new home and I can just tell my owners love me too! I will be back for a visit very soon to see some of my old friends!
t This is Hope Byrne (age 8) , she is pictured with her puppy, Molly. We got Molly from the SPCA in December and she has taken over our home and our hearts. We also have a cat, Macy who wouldn't stay for a picture (she is camera shy) that we also got from the SPCA 4 years ago. Hope has a lot of love for animals and decided two weeks ago to make cup cakes and sell them to close friends and family. With the money she earned from her cupcake sale, she bought bags of cat food and dog food and brought it over to the SPCA.
t"Our beautiful Maggie (formally Rose), that I adopted from the exploits SPCA last year in May. She has brought so much love and joy to our family in the past year, I'm so glad that I made the choice to make her a part of our family :) she is a spunky, lovable little girl, loves the outdoors and anyone or anything that will give her attention :)"
tHi Folks, Remember me? I'm Angel (aka Lady), you took care of me for awhile when I had no home or anyone to love me and you did a wonderful job, thank you for helping to find a home for me with my new forever mom and dad, Elizabeth and Tom. They call me their "Christmas Angel" because I came to live with them just before Christmas 2013. I am so happy here and love everything and everyone. I have lots of space to run around outside and "snowplough" through the snow, my dad takes me for walks through the woods and I get to sniff every hole and track I see. Everyone says I am spoiled but my mom says every pet deserves to be loved and spoiled. I've gained weight since I came, my ribs don't show anymore, I have a thick, shiny fur coat and my tail is always upright and wagging. My doctor says I am healthy and a lovely girl. My human "sister" and her family live next door, they have four Labrador Retrievers - wow! My human "brother" and his family live nearby also, they have a Golden Retriever and a Flat Coated Retriever - double wow! I haven't had much to do with the doggie side of the family yet, but I know that will come soon. One thing for sure, I can out run anything, it should be fun to see them "try" to catch me! Hahaha. The "humans" always play with me and bring treats and toys every time they visit, which I like. My mom is attaching a picture of me relaxing in front the fire, hope you like it. She says she will take me to visit you when we go to Grand Falls this summer. Hope you remember me. Special hello to Michelle. Thank you for taking care of me. Love, Angel Bursey
tJust a note to let you know that Benny and Reid (Henry and Harry) are doing fine. Reid is quite chummy with our dog Tetter (pictured below) who we adopted in March of 2009. Benny and Reid like to play together. Benny is very playful and affectionate. He follows me around the house and every time I go upstairs he will run ahead of me and jump on the bed waiting to be petted. Reid is a jumper. Love the window sills and tops of the highest cabinets. Benny can't jump very high but uses things to get from one height to another. Because Tetter will eat everything reachable, Benny and Reid are eating on top of an antique ice chest, waiting for their own perch to be made. They look quite cute with their tails wagging. All three of them meet me at the door when I get home for supper, waiting to be feed. Ruth Reid-Fowlow
Just wanted to send a little update on Mya. She is doing wonderful. Loving her new home and new sister (Zoey). She loves the car and keeps wanting to go for another ride. She has a bunch of new toys and is so loving. Getting lots of cuddles. We love her!!! Thank you for making our family complete!
Crystal and Shane :)
tHey everyone! I just wanted to forward you a picture of Harris (we have renamed him Sam) with his new family! He is now a part of the pack:) Here he is with Diesel and Spike! Julie Rideout
tJust checking in to give an update on our beautiful cat Tinker Bell...we adopted her from the shelter 4 years ago and as you can see she's doing really well...she still loves her snuggles and lots of attention...Kyla Kendell
tFirst needle and de-wormed yesterday at Mid Island Clinic.....
Have a look how he is settling in.
tJust wanted to share a pic of our beautiful dog Hoover. We adopted Hoover ( the big guy on my left) the summer of 2008 from the EVSPCA.He has added so very much to our lives! Not to mention what he's done for Zoe our little Pom-Poo. She was a little wary of him at first but now they're best buds! He will even give up his chew toy if she whines for it! So sweet. I would encourage anyone, if they are considering a pet for their home to PLEASE! consider adopting from a shelter. You will not be sorry, and remember, you are giving an animal a second chance.
My husband and I rescued Tabitha:-) She is a very healthy cat with an adorable personality:-) We love her so much:-))
Hi, just wanted to give you an update! I adopted this little guy back in July and his name now is dexter! This is when he went to the vet to get his needles which didn't even bother him! He has adjusted so great to our home and loves his older sister terra(cat) and older brother Charlie(dog who I also adopted in 2010 from your shelter)! He was the piece of the puzzle that was missing and he is super spoiled! When he gets fixed in Jan I may just bring him in for a visit! Thanks so much for 2 of my amazing animals! xo!
Hi guys, just wanted to give you an update on Casey.
tThanks for a all your help. We will make sure Thunder is truly loved:)
tPiper is fitting in quite nicely with our family. We love everything about her including the name she already had. She seems to be enjoying her new life and playing with our other dogs.
tToday is the day we have to say good bye to our precious Angel. Over 15 years ago we where given the honor of adopting her from Exploits Valley SPCA. Angel has been a loving friend, companion and most of all a beloved family member. I want to thank SPCA staff and all their volunteers for giving us Angel almost 15 years, I will cherish every moment.
Was talking to glen the other day and he reminded me to send some pics of our kitties (Paris and Nikki). They are the perfect cats. So glad we came to the spca that day.
Hello, We just wanted to give you an update on how our newest addition is doing.
Christina, Cody and her new Furry sisters Sophia(Cat) and Mia(dog) J
tHi to my friends at the SPCA in Grand Falls-Windsor!
On September 29th, 2011 I had adopted Oreo (A.K.A Davey;Shelter name)
Oreo is now 2 1/2 years of age and he got fixed when he was 7 months old.
I dont know what I would do without my oreo, he's like a bestfriend to me; thank you all so much for keeping him until he found his forever home!

tA couple pictures of Gizmo. I forgot to send them earlier. He is happiest when in the middle of everything with everyone around!
Just thought I would drop you a line and let you know how Bentley (you probably remember him as Ace) is doing. We adopted him from the SPCA in July of 2012 and he is thriving. He's been a great addition to our family. He's been great company for Zachary. And s you can see by the pictures I've attached he's a little spoiled and doesn't exactly lack for attention. We just wanted to say thanks for a great dog.
tWe are so thankful to the SPCA, Cooper is extremely loved in our home!
tThis is Angel, a female Rottweiler that was adopted by a lovely couple. She had her Christmas photo taken and doesn't look too happy but is very happy with her forever home.
Just to let you know that Chloe is very healthy and weighs about 13 pounds. She is a happy and gentle creature who has become a very welcome and appreciated addition to our family. We adopted her on April 17, 2010. She loves people and especially likes playing with bare feet which often surprises many. Buts it's one of her gentle playful habits. Adopting Chloe was a good decision for us. She personifies the gentleness in nature and shares it with us everyday.
Here I am relaxing and taking it easy in my forever home. It took three tries for someone to take the time to love me, but now I am the happiest kitten in all the world settling in with my sister (she's a dog but I don't hold that against her!)
Thank you to the SPCA for rescuing me and finding my forever Mommy for me.
